It's happened again! Is it because the house I live in is close to the woods and that's the reason people drop kitties off? Is it because people just don't care about their pets and they simply put them outside and this kitty just wandered down to our neck of the woods?
Whatever the reason, this extremely friendly tiger kitten (Mom says she isn't a kitten but she's smaller than me, so that makes her a kitten) came across the yard and somehow wound up living in one of the bedrooms of the house. I heard that it was too cold for her to be left outdoors (it was 15 degrees when we found her) so in she came.
After living like she was in solitary confinement for a week she was introduced to the rest of the family. I, being special, met her first when she was living in the bedroom. She didn't scratch at me or hiss and I didn't "growl her out" so it was all good.
The new kitty, named Willow, doesn't like the big yellow dog, Spenser, but she seems to tolerate the other housecats. We did try to find her a new home through one of the local shelters but were told that they were "full up."
On a side note (from mom): Don't take in a pet you can't take care of and after you've taken the time to make it a housepet (as Willow is litter trained, her nails were trimmed, and she is friendly but was razor thin when we found her) don't turn them out into the cold. Pets rely on you to take care of them. It's your responsibility and not one that should be taken lightly.
